Hello PHG fans! While building the pages for the Republic of Korea, I noticed this interesting area of Gyeongju City, a densely packed historic district that includes museums, castle ruins, and other monuments. This is part of the old capital of Silla, one of three kingdoms of ancient Korea. There's been a lot written on this topic, such as this magazine article, and this scientific study. Nestled within the Gyeongju historic sites is this National Museum, focused on the political and cultural history of Silla.

On my bucket list for my next Korea trip is a trip to the Gyeongju National Museum; aside from the National Musuem there's also the Hwangnyongsa History & Culture Hall, the ruins of Wolseong Fortress, and the Gyeongju Gyochon Traditional Village. Based on my estimates, it looks like the historic area is about 90 minutes via bus from Busan, and 40 minutes from Pohang. If you've been to Gyeongju and want to share some tips and stories, please let me know in the comments! Looking forward to seeing you all out there.
Happy exploring,
Tony
