The Northern Territory, locally called 'The Territory' is Australia's third-largest federal division. It is bordered by Western Australia to the west, South Australia to the south, and Queensland to the east. The Timor and Arafura seas are situated to the north along with the Gulf of Carpentaria. The Northern Territory has less than half the population of Australia's smallest state, the majority of the population is in the capital of Darwin, and Alice Springs. The U.S. Marine Corps has rotational deployments through RAAF Darwin.
